As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free

I just thought it would be nice to make a post to remind us all why we don't have school and our parents don't have work today.

Church yesterday was really neat - they kind of based the whole thing off of Memorial Day. We sang the national anthem, and America the Beautiful, and the Battle Hymn of the Republic. The sermon was based on John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that he would lay down his life for his friend." Our pastor told us the Greek word for life when used in this context: psuche, meaning not just your body, but you entire mind, will, and spirit. This is also the term used when speaking of the good shepherd laying down his life for his sheep, and it's what Jesus did for us. The point is, the verse doesn't just say be willing to die for your friend. It says to live, surrendering you mind, will, and spirit (and if necessary, your body, being also willing to die). If Jesus gave His entire "psuche" for us, essentially His enemies, how much more should we be giving Him our lives, both in living for Him, and if necessary in dying for Him, who has called us to be His friends?

And today we should remember those who have given, and are giving, their psuche for us, to defend our freedom and our rights, to keep life as we know it the same. Not only those who have died before, but those who are dying now, are living now, and are willing both to live and die for our wonderful country, America.

if you know a veteran, say thank you to them. I know there's Veteran's Day too, but as my pastor pointed out yesterday, these people deserve so much more than one day, considering what they do for us!

remember the 3600 who have died for our occupation of iraq--and the thousands of men and women still in the middle east.
it really is a noble cause.

it's national leave-random-comments-on-everyone's-blogs-day! and i'm starting because I think I'm probably the only one up at 1:50 AM.

so yeah. what was I gonna say?

oh that's right! today at co-op i wrote "Up is Down" on the whiteboard, and we almost debated it in debate. it was pretty awesome.

but only like three people have actually seen Pirates 3 so far and got it. sad. very sad.

however, we all thought it would make a good topic.

so do something random today and then tell us what you did!
