Have you ever felt something so much you could almost touch it? Like even when it's raining, you remember that perfect sunny day so much that you can feel the sun again, and you look outside and you're surprised that it's not smiling at you from the sky.
I might be going back to India in January.
*freaks out*
that is a good freak out, by the way. I want to go back so much! the church that organizes it sent out a letter yesterday with the dates and a tiny bit of what they're doing, what talents they're looking for, etc. last time I went I was on the MK (missionary kids) Care team. Whether they have that again or not totally depends on if there are any kids to be cared for.
however, they are looking for journalism and photography talent.
Journalism. How Perfect! I keep feeling...you know what I mean. a tugging. when you know you're the right fit for something. please...I would really appreciate some prayers. there are three "doors" that will kinda be signs. if they stay open, I'm going. If they shut, most likely not.
Door #1 ("you go to prison for a very long time." ~Verya's other half) ahem. sorry. Door #1 is a guardian. Last time my great-aunt was there and she was my guardian. We don't know if she's called to go back this year or not. If she isn't, then either it won't work, or someone else will be my guardian. There are a few people I could think of that would probably do it, but that is all a long way off. I desperately need PATIENCE!!!
Door #2 ("we are going to get back the Declaration. you help us find it....and you still go to prison for a very long time." ~Verya's other half for the absolutely finally last performance) sorry again. she pops up in the oddest places! Door #2 is finances. as most of you know, my circle of friends and acquaintances has changed a LOT over the past year or so. From all the stuff at co-op to meeting you guys, changing churches, looking to move, etc., like half the people that were on my list to send a "support letter" to are gone. and gas prices keep going up, which keeps bumping the trip's price up (driving and airline tickets, etc.). I know I'm not supposed to worry, but last year was tight as it was, and I AM worried. please pray that if I go, God will give me peace about this. I know if He wants me back, that He will provide.
Door #3 (jump into the Hudson and find the dude with the go-fast thingy. ~Verya's other half for really the last performance this time.....with the possibility of a final performance to follow) oh I love Nicholas Nickleby! Anyway, Door #3 is that there will be a good spot for me on the team. This trip isn't like a youth trip - it's really geared more toward adults. I know I'm older now and more mature than I was, but I'm still young for most of the teams (which involve teaching adult natives). If there aren't any kids, there won't be an MK team. as I said before, Journalism is definitely my niche, I would feel so perfect there, but the teams aren't really developed yet (they form the teams off of what the Indians request, and what people/talents are interested in going), so I don't know much of anything about that yet. as I said, the info meeting is in September, and September is a loooooong way off, so I really need patience, and not to worry about things God already knows the end of. I'll probably be meeting with one of the leaders of this and the last years' teams in August though to talk more about it. Last year there really wasn't a place for me so I didn't get any stuff, but this year I did get the letter...so maybe she can see me fitting in a good spot?
thanks for all of your prayers!

Oh, I hope i works out for you Verya! I will be praying for you.
In the meantime, aren't you excited for Camp Hope?
Ha-ha thank you both for your prayers! It's just the waiting right now that's killing me, but I really do think it's all going to work out, and I may just end up having my 16th birthday 13 and 1/2 hours early this year!
YES, I CAN'T WAIT FOR CAMP HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thankfully my summer is busy enough to keep me occupied until September...sooo far away....
Sepetember is when you might go to india?
well, training starts in September and goes through January. the actual trip takes place January 23-February 13.
;) oooohhh...*excitement*
What's involved in the training?
A. LOT.
Haha, there's an info meeting in September with basic information about the teams, so people can see if they want to go or not. Then training starts in October. The first training is a lot of stuff about where the team is going and what the individual teams within the whole team will be doing (like pastoral training, teacher training, health education, etc.) They talk a little bit about the culture. Also, they talk about how to write a support letter, and help get you started. Talked about passports and vaccinations. Each training session is about seven hours, with breaks for lunch and stretching and stuff.
The second training in November is a weekend "retreat," meaning it's Friday/Saturday and you spend the night at this place...it's completely about cross-cultural stuff, which can get really funny! Like last year, we split up into two groups and one group had its own language and culture, and my group were the missionaries who had to go there and try and figure them out before sharing the gospel with them. We talk a lot about worldview and how different cultures and behaviors and religions spring from worldviews, etc. There's also an Indian man who cooks a meal and shows us how to eat with our fingers on Friday. And, we fill out the information for our visas.
The third training in December I think was all logistics and last-minute stuff, like packing lists and flight schedules, plus any questions people have. I can't remember what they did besides that...There was supposed to be a cross-cultural Indian dinner, but it was cancelled because of snow/ice.
In January I don't think there was a training. There were commissioning services (five!) the weekend before we left, and then we left on Wednesday. There was debriefing in Mumbai (India) to go over what we had learned and how to re-enter the US without having reverse culture shock (which I actually did get...guess I'm not the best listener!). We had a team reunion in March to get back together and see how it was going for everyone.
yeah, how's that for a description? maybe a little more than you wanted to know, lol. I have a notebook with all of my training handouts and support letters and stuff that we did that you're welcome to look at with me anytime you want! only excepting it's packed right now...
that's so cool Verya! I hope you get to go, i know how much it means to you!
Wow, Verya, why did I ask, again?
lol really.
