Irish Dance is becoming more and more apart of my life. But mom says we need to decide how far we want to go with it. Go into competition? Keep it to classes? Take the grades?
Mom and dad say they need to talk about it, and we need to decide what we want. Anything like this becomes quite a hassle for mom and dad. Pretty much everything costs, and that adds up for 3 girls taking classes. Coming up are the grades and a feis (a competition pronounced fesh.) Not to mention our next performance, (June 9) anyway, I was wondering your thoughts on it.
The plus side is I love to dance. I guess I really need to compete to find out if I like it, but I"m prety sure I do. Dance is something I have always wanted to do. I always admired those things, ballet, gymnastics, figure skating-most girls do. But this is one that looks remotely possible, it takes dedication, yes, but not so much as other things, such as figure skating. Plus, I don't think you have to stop when you are 28 or whatever, like in ice skating.
I posted here because nobody is going on my blog. *collective glare at all those who are guilty.* So please tell me what you guys think!

if that's your dream and your thing, i say go for it, follow what you've always loved.
sacrifices are tough.
lol, sorry for not going on your blog. *looks guilty and repentant simultaneously*
it sounds like the only reason to consider not continuing would be the whole parent thing. Are they willing to do it? Maybe you could come up with some sort of system to pay them back for the sacrifice- that's what we always do at our house.
That really is the main thing, I don't want to put all this stress on Mom and dad. We will see what happens. I hope to compete in the feis coming up and take the grades, and then decide.
I second what Sam said (and Em too of course...always have to go with what the parents say unless you get a job or something, lol). You obviously love dancing, and are also obviously very good at it. if you're parents are ok with it, I say go for it too!
I know a girl, Eowyn, who is quite a high level Irish Dancer and she never competes. She said it was because it was wayyy too competitive and all the moms were way too into it. I'm not certainly exactly how she was competing or through what, but there you have her perspective. it simply wasn't worth it for her.
