"you don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. just get people to stop reading them."
~ ray bradbury ~
if you're not drawn over and over to reading, you're not reading the right kind of books.

Then I must not be reading the right books.
But I don't get the first quote. I'm confuzled.
Oh, I get it. I agree... at least not being able to read would destroy a culture. I'm not sure if our culture is defined by what we read, but it certainly couldn't exist as it does if we couldn't read.
I don't know. There used to be lots of cultures who were illiterate. We don't know much about them but they still had a culture.
I like the second quote alot. It's perfect.
well gee thanks, since the second was my quote. and, very good point about other cultures. i hadn't thought about that.
LOL... I've considered doing that.
Well, not all cultures existed upon reading... but to yank reading away from a culture that was used to it would be disasterous.
Yes, a lot of cultures exist/existed without reading, but in the cultures that do have reading (like ours), reading is part of what defines our culture. Having that taken away would be taking away part of our culture. *shivers* scary thought
I like your quote a lot too Sam. Finding the kind of books you love and reading them is the only way to really be drawn to reading.
