hey, weirdness here.
but seeing as no one else posts besides Samwise, I thought I might.
so anyway, now that I've noticed how completely messed up I was in my last comment, I'll just completely mess up this post as well.
you know those verses about rejoicing in suffering? (for the life of me I can't remember the reference....don't hit me sam, please.)
what really consitutes rejoicing in suffering? we know that the suffering makes us perfect......but how far does the rejoicing go? obviously we're not supposed to be hilariously happy while we're suffering. (sometimes I am, but that's rather beside the point.). how far does this rejoicing go?
we're supposed to "rejoice always", and "give thanks in everything", right?
give me your input, not your laughter, sam.
namarie!

Romans 5: 1-5
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us."
James 1:2-4
"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing."
i'm just going to leave it at that. i don't want to be the first. this is a group.
while life hurts and rips our hearts out, we have to always pick ourselves up, always move on for the next day, the next task. that's perseverance. we're not going to get anywhere unless we learn from our mistakes and keep trying despite all the pain and loss we can feel sometimes.
the shadow proves the sunshine.
and yes, i deleted two of my posts. i felt preachy and fake.
I don't know if anyone's even reading this post anymore...I've been gone forever! But I second what Eowyn said. I think the verse means that we should still give thanks to God for all things (and not turn our back on Him) even suffering, because it produces perseverance, and you know what that leads to...
